According to a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, it can be more difficult to sell your home in an election year – particularly if the election is a close race.
A Princeton economist looked at housing sales in 35 states over a seven year period during 73 elections. She found that homes sales declined in election years between two-tenths and three-tenths of a percent.
Uncertainty is likely to blame, since home seekers are more reluctant to buy if they’re unsure of how election results might affect their finances.
